The Full Moon

Tonight the moon is 100% Illuminated, 15 days old and is currently travelling through to Gemini from Taurus, this is called void of course. It is not a good time to make important decisions, start new projects or even sign contracts during this time. But don’t worry this doesn't last for long.

Here it is currently overcast and so the full moon is behind the dark clouds, unlike yesterday where the moonlight shone through my window so beautifully. If you are unable to see the full moon do not be put off as the energy of the moon is all around you. The Full Moon is best used for banishing unwanted influences in your life. Think of it as 'shining a light' on issues or challenges. It can also be a good time for creating protection magick and performing divination, Spells related to increasing your intuitive awareness, Healing magic, Rituals that connect you closely with a deity, such as Drawing down the Moon, Any magic related to developing your magical skills.

Another thing you can do is to cleanse your crystals.

Cleanse means energetic cleansing.
You can cleanse your crystals as often as you feel they need to be cleansed.
This method is safe for ALL crystals.
If placing crystals outside, selenite is not safe out in the rain
(including other crystals that should avoid water.)
You can put your crystals out a day before, on or after a full moon
as the lunar energy is strongest for three days.
You can place your crystals outside any time after dark
especially if you have amethyst that should avoid sunlight.
Its best to bring crystals back inside during the morning
as there are some crystals that eventually fade if left in the sun for too long.
Don’t forget though you can place your stones on a window sill
if need be indoors as the moons energy is all around, so don’t worry if you can’t see her.

And remember to enjoy the high energies this full moon night! Blessed be!

The Goddess Hecate

The Goddess Hecate is a popular goddess chosen by many Wiccans and Witches. Why? Because she is the Goddess of Witches, among other things.
Today I did a lot of research into this goddess and I felt I wanted to include her as one of my goddesses along with Nyx (And Gaia).

The exact Origins are a little unclear. Some believe her parents were Perses (Titan god of Destruction) and Asteria, others have said she is the daughter of Nyx. One thing is for sure, she is a very powerful goddess. After the Titans were overthrown by the Olympians, Hecate maintained her powers over Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld. She is also seen as the Triple goddess, Maiden/Mother/Crone even though she is normally seen as a crone goddess. She is not only the goddess of witches but of crossroads, entrance-ways, dogs, light, the moon, magic, witchcraft, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, ghosts, necromancy, and sorcery. Again, she was very powerful.

I was personally trying to find a moon goddess. As I have already mentioned before, I love the moon, I have never given her a deity/name. I have always addressed her as her/she and yet I actually felt she wanted to be known for who she was. I decided to meditate and with a list of moon goddesses I tried to find who she was to me. The obvious option would be Selene, but that wasn’t who she was to me. Eventually Hecate was the one name that came to me and it felt right. And so my research began. I already knew who she was, she is one of my favourite goddesses and the fact she is supposedly Nyx’ daughter made her even more perfect.

Her Associations are:

The Difference between a Wiccan and a Witch

In many ways I like to think of Wicca as the religious version of witchcraft.
In some ways this is true, in some places in the world many witches can be from a different religion all together.

First of all, it is understanding what paganism is:
Depending on where you hear it from, paganism has different meanings. Christians used the word pagan to describe people who lived in the country and rural areas, and other religions would say pagans are people who don't follow their one god religion.

For many, paganism is described as a religion which follows and worships nature. They follow a set of guidelines made by natural occurrences such as the seasons, the moon and even the sun. Paganism is normally polytheistic and they like to worship gods and goddesses that represent nature, a planet, or something similar. Paganism is an umbrella term for many different religions such as Shamanism, Druidry, Heathens, Asatru, even Hinduism (debatable) and many more. Wicca thus also is a pagan religion.

Witchcraft is more than just what you have seen on the television, in movies and read in storybooks. A witch can be someone who makes spells, potions, chants, incarnations, herbalism, gemstones, crystals, natural healing. They can be keen on divination, be psychics or mediums sometimes, use tarot cards, runes, crystal balls, palmistry and many other things. A witch can be from any type of religion or no religion at all. They may believe in the Christian god for example or they may instead practice dark magic or voodoo. Or a witch can simply just be a witch.

Wicca is in my mind is putting the two together and making witchcraft its own religion. Wicca is a pagan witchcraft religion and so follow the cycles of the moon, worships nature, the sun and even the stars. In Wicca the moon is the goddess and the sun is the god but this could be many different goddesses and gods to fit individual preferences. They also have a triple goddess which can be a single goddess or three goddesses seen as a single goddess, it all varies. Wiccans have 8 Sabbats (holidays) based around the seasons, including Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice. Many traditions are taken from Celtic beliefs as well as Roman, Greek, Egyptian and Norse, along with many others.

Find what suits you best. Remember as they say, not all witches are wiccans but all wiccans are witches. (respectively) Love, live and be happy, blessed be )O(

The New Moon and its meaning.

Each moon phase has its own energy and its own power. When spell-casting, aligning them with the moon phases can make the spell more powerful. The moon is said to effect the Earth in special ways, not only the control of the tides but it is said to effect the emotions of humans and animals.

The New Moon is when the moon has done a full cycle and starts all over again. So it makes sense to say the new moon is about new beginnings and good growth.
During a new moon many pagans, wiccans and witches use this time to do spell casting linked with growth, optimism among other similar things but also to make new moon wishes.

Writing down your wishes is a good way of reflecting on things in your life and your past from this point. Wishing for certain things can depend on what has been happening in your life or can reflect on feelings or emotions that you have felt recently.

It is helpful to write wishes down every new moon if you can as some will be more potent for you than others, depending on your individual birth chart. Making a wish every new moon gives you the opportunity to make the wish at the strongest and most potent times for you. Keep repeating wishes until they are true.

Don't make wishes that affect other peoples behaviour instead reflect on what you really want and see if you can make changes within yourself or a situation that may affect their behaviour in a non direct  way.

Remember to make the wish come from your heart and soul and to believe in it, use the words most comfortable for you, use candles if you wish and make sure you handwrite your wishes as its a lot more personal and magical.

Make your wishes AFTER the exact time of the new moon when the energy has changed from balsamic energy of completion to the new energy of beginning this can be up to 8 hours after but can be made up to 48 hours later.

Remember to be positive and wish for things that you DO want to come true and not things you DON'T want to come true. Send out positive energies and let the Lady Goddess listen.

Blessed Be - )O(

The Gods and the Goddesses

One of the things about Wicca which fascinates newcomers and outsiders is the special relationship between you and the deities.

Wicca is polytheistic religion - has more than one god or goddess. Some Wiccans believe the gods and goddesses are in and around ourselves and everything around us, others believe all gods are in a single god and all goddesses are in a single goddess.

Some people find this unusual, from being used to a single deity 'Up there', male and in charge.
Wiccans and witches understand and believe that we embody the goddesses and the gods and we are sacred and so is the nature around us. With this way of thinking, the gods become much like a friend, more than an authority leader. We seek the gods and goddesses to help us in our spells and rituals and basically have our back.

Each Wiccan has a different path and a different approach, but the basic foundations are basically the same.
There are some Forms of Wiccan paths in which focus mainly (or sometimes only) on the Goddess herself, the most common forms are The Sun God and the Moon Goddess, Also the triple goddess (Maiden, Mother, Crone).

My personal view on gods and goddesses:

I have spoken before on how I was uninterested in a single male deity leader in the sky and searched for goddesses instead. There I found my way to Wicca and also the Goddess Nyx. I see the goddess Nyx, not as a physical formed person but an energy. I mainly prefer to worship a goddess but I do recognise the god as the sun but I do turn mostly to the goddess herself and my matron goddess is Nyx.

I do sometimes go to the seaside, and I will joke on that Poseidon the god of the sea is the energy that controls it for example, but that is as far as it goes, the recognition that energy is everywhere around me and I believe all things are masculine and feminine equally.

Some other Deities I personally have a fondness for (yes, including gods):

Greek God, Apollo - This god is the god of the sun, poetry, music and the arts. Deity of light and clarity, rational thought, truth and healing. If I was to choose a specific god to represent the sun god then I would probably choose Apollo.

Greek Goddess, Gaia - Because how can you not recognise and adore this goddess, she is basically mother nature/earth in goddess form. She is a mother Goddess.

Greek Goddess, Hecate - Crone Goddess of witches, magic and the night, ruler of crossroads. She is drawn through the sky in a chariot pulled by cats and I'd like to think her and Nyx has a nice chat every now and then, considering they are mother and daughter.

Egyptian Goddess, Bast - The cat-headed goddess. Associated with Music and dancing and joy. And cats are sacred to Bast and are seen as aspects of the divine female.

Celtic Goddess, Bloddueth - Maiden Goddess of springtime and flowers. A 'Green Woman' for the late spring. Can be celebrated at Beltane.

African Goddess, Oya - Goddess of Storms, positive and protective action and defence. She is a fierce goddess but good to have on your side if you are being threatened or bullied. Think of her as your tough big sister!

Okay so I only mentioned one god, but that there shows how I feel, I feel more connected with the goddesses’ deities. I do however love Greek, Roman and Egyptian history and I appreciate the gods such as Zeus, Poseidon, Thor, Horus, etc.;

What I am trying to say is, Wicca is a path of freedom and self-expression, it is path in which you do what makes you happy, worship who you want, recognise who you want, have one goddess, three goddesses, have two gods or no gods. It is up to you.

Blessed Be - )O(

How i found Wicca.

This may or may not go well, but i am going to send out positive energies.
I want to write a little blog, a diary around my daily life as a Wiccan. I find the path of a Wiccan very interesting and can be overwhelming as you are always learning something new. So i felt i wanted to write (i mean type) down everything i learn, maybe in the hope i help someone else or encourage someone else to come along on the path of Wicca too. Either way i can always look back at this myself and have a chuckle at myself.

I type this in the beginning of November, Samhain has been and gone now and the nights are getting darker sooner and the weather is starting to get colder. The trees outside my window have practically lost all of their leaves now and hopefully the hedgehogs are starting to hibernate.

I have been a Wiccan witch for around maybe 4 years. I Can't remember exactly how i discovered Wicca. I probably new i loved nature, was fascinated with witchcraft, was interested in religion but not organised new world religions such as Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Don't get me wrong, they do obviously have perks, pros, as people follow those religions, but they weren't for me. I wanted something that connected with me. I grew up loving nature, loving animals. I was easily amazed at even the littlest of things that other people wouldn't notice. Such as a flock of birds flying or even singular birds, i just loved to watch them fly around. I loved flowers blooming in different seasons and would pay attention when this happened, Astrology, the stars, i believed in reincarnation, i loved crystals, gemstones, palm reading, fortune telling, ghosts, the paranormal, witchcraft i loved (i grew up wanting to be a witch with powers) i didn't realise they are actually real, anything to do with magic. And yes, anyone could like these things, it doesn't have to make them Wiccan. But this interest in these things helped me to find my way to paganism and thus Wicca. I always loved the moon, it was my favourite thing in the sky, i was drawn to it, it amazed me, i was always looking for it, LOVED the moonlight. This also helped me find my way to Wicca.
I remember specifically searching for goddesses. I already knew of Egyptian goddesses, Roman, Celtic and even Greek. I loved the idea of gods AND goddesses. I decided to find a goddess that i personally felt drawn to. I found the Goddess Nyx. Beautiful, powerful, feared and independent, Nyx was the goddess of the night. She essentially created (gave birth to) Day, light, death, sleep, distress, hope, and many many more!

I felt drawn to her instantly. And from that, i wanted to know more about her, who worshipped her and everything in between. So, i googled 'Who worships the Goddess Nyx' and it came up with how she was a Greek goddess and well i looked into it more and learned that there was such a thing as paganism where most religions are polytheistic just like the Greeks. The biggest thing that interested me was they were a group of religions based on nature. I then looked through the list, druids, shamans, AND Wiccans. I clicked a link directing me to a separate page all about Wicca. A pagan witchcraft religion. My heart dropped, this sounds so perfect! i thought. From that point i researched and learnt and i grew and i have been up and down, sometimes i 'slack'. I spent several years in a on and off abusive relationship with a partner who believed they were Jewish though they didn't celebrate any Jewish traditions, prayers, anything, and also believed my religion was not real, and a bit daft. So i didn't have much opportunity to do what i wanted to do, to research and be a Wiccan. I tried to meditate sometimes to calm me, but even still.

I am out of that dark phase now, its been a year. This year has been a lot more kinder to me, and i have been able to pick up on my path a lot more. Over the years, i have managed to get material and items related to Wicca, so now i feel the urge to put a lot of dedication into my path, finally.

I will post more, maybe everyday, about what i learn and what i discover and its nice to write everything down in a different format.

But yes, not sure how to end this :) Bye and if you actually read this, thanks!
